GIGEE
GIGEE's journey through the world of electronic music is a testament to resilience, passion, and an indomitable spirit. Born in Warsaw, Poland, with paternal roots tracing back to France, GIGEE's early years were steeped in a rich cultural tapestry of sounds that shaped her artistic vision. "I remember listening to my dad’s Jazz collection on my mom’s old vinyl player," she recalls. "I was too young to understand why, but the improvisational and experimental nature of the likes of Chris Botti, Tony Bennett, Edith Piaf really connected with my soul." This early influence, followed by her early school years spent listening to the likes of The Bloody Beetroots, Cassius, Vitalic and Skrillex - and later, the warm melodic techno of Paul Kalkbrenner would combine to lay the musical foundations for GIGEEs production style, blending 4/4 grooves with captivating melodies that defied conventional formulas.
Throughout her childhood GIGEE was a sports fanatic, playing football at a high level and competing regularly in tennis tournaments. "Sports was my first love," she says. "I spent countless hours on the field and the court, dreaming of a professional career." However, a major injury during an alpine skiing event forced GIGEE into an early retirement from competitive sports. Despite the shift in focus from sports to music, she remains a lifelong Manchester United fan, watching their games wherever she is in the world.
Encouraged to pursue a career in economics or architecture, GIGEE still felt an irresistible pull towards music. At 18, she took a decisive gap year in Paris, a city that became her crucible of creativity, she found solace and inspiration in the vibrant Parisian arts scene.
Upon returning to Poland, GIGEE channelled her energy into studying film and TV production, building a robust network and gaining a deeper understanding of the powerful synergy between media and music. These years were a whirlwind of experimentation, from exploring various genres and creating music for fashion shows, to developing an innovative algorithmic playlist app that caught the eye of Silicon Valley, where at 21 she was invited to pitch to an array of Fortune 500 companies, including Apple, which led to her being invited to an innovators hub at Stanford University. Each experience honed her skills and set the stage for her emergence as a formidable force in electronic music.
Transitioning from ghost-producing to the limelight was a natural evolution for GIGEE. "The journey hasn't been easy," she admits. "There were times when I doubted myself, but every setback was a lesson. It made me stronger and more determined to succeed." Her debut EP under her GIGEE alias, "Reborn Pulse," released in 2019 on Katermukke, was a critical success, earning support from industry legends like Sven Vath. This was followed by a flurry of popular releases on Mobilee, Desert Hearts, Katermukke, Pets Recordings and the standout "Mind Games" on Spectrum, which became a staple in Joris Voorn’s sets. GIGEE’s music, characterised by its unique blend of melodic techno, progressive house, and her signature playful identity, captivated global audiences, drawing further support from titans including Solomun, David Guetta, Armin Van Buuren, and ARTBAT.
A self-confessed studio junkie, GIGEE's relentless passion for crate digging and her extensive repertoire of unreleased productions ensure her sets are always fresh and compelling. "Music has always been my sanctuary," she says. "It's where I find my peace and my power. Every beat, every melody is a part of my soul." 2024 kicked off with the launch of her curated night, “GIGEE invites,” which debuted at Praga Centrum in Warsaw and is set to tour across Poland and the rest of Europe, bringing top global talent to her beloved homeland, and clubs where she has played regularly and built a dedicated audience.
A finalist in the Red Bull i-Battle (a challenge for making spontaneous beats using nothing but iPods), GIGEE was awarded the ‘best bassline’ for her production efforts for Indaba Music, just another example of her deep understanding of music production.
Between 2014-2019, She also ran her own creative agency ‘In The Sound We Trust,’ where she gained valuable understanding in musical programming, bookings and what goes on behind the scenes. This wealth of experience earned GIGEE the opportunity to envision the music scenography for ‘The Voice of Poland’ during the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
In addition to her musical achievements behind the scenes, the post-pandemic era saw GIGEE burst onto the scene, touring extensively with highlight appearances at Family Piknik, Sonne Mond Sterne, Ikarus Festival, a tour of India and with Spectrum at their ADE showcase. Her electrifying journey continued in 2024 with standout appearances at Resistance in Miami, Extrema Outdoor in Belgium, AudioRiver Festival, Junction 2 Festival, and a myriad of other prestigious stages.
With an arsenal of high-profile releases and an exhilarating tour schedule on the horizon, GIGEE has no intention of slowing down any time soon.
